The cottage is hidden away down a quiet lane in a peaceful location in the heart of the thriving market town of Bridport. The location is close to all amenities, shops, eateries, pubs, art deco Electric Palace and Bridport Arts Centre. Bucky Doo Square is a couple of minutes walk from the cottage, where musicians perform, as people visit the street markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, selling everything from bric-a-brac to street food.
The stone cottage is light, cosy and comfortable. After coming through the front door you enter a porch for coats and shoes and containing a cabinet with cottage and tourist information and games for the use of guests.
The living room/diner contains a wood burner, comfortable seating and a range of equipment you might expect. French doors lead to a sheltered stone walled courtyard which can accommodate one car and has a rear wrought iron gate for vehicular access. A table and chairs are situated in the courtyard for al fresco dining.
A small but well equipped kitchen leads off from the living room.
On the first floor of this 3 storey cottage there is a bathroom with a bath and shower. There is a step down into the bathroom. The large Master bedroom has a standard feature double bed. The second bedroom on this level has adult sized wooden bunk beds.
On the second floor there is a beamed, attic bedroom containing a standard double bed. Far reaching views across nearby hills and the towns characterful rooftops can be had on the east and north side of this room. There is a low point on the stairs leading up to the attic bedroom.
The property has full central heating throughout if required.
There is always a lot happening in Bridport at any one time. As well as the twice weekly markets there is a monthly vintage market and a regular artisan market . Bridport has a museum which has a significant section informing you of the town's rope making industry and history. There are many festivals throughout the year including themes such as literary, film, food/drink and the unique hat festival.
The beaches and harbour at West Bay ( of "Broadchurch" fame) is approximately 1.5 miles from the cottage. Either a few minutes drive or a lovely (45 minutes approx) walk through the town orchard and along the river Brit. In general the cottage is a good base for walkers and cyclists. Many varied day routes and destinations are possible along the coast or through beautiful countryside. You could easily spend a week or two and not use a car if you wanted to.
The surrounding area is largely unspoilt with several areas owned by the National Trust. The coast has World Heritage status and many literary connections including Thomas Hardy. Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Abbotsbury, Dorchester and Weymouth are all within easy reach. Activities including fossil hunting, fishing, sailing and golf are all possible. There are many places of interest to visit including a swannery and beautiful sub tropical gardens open to the public.

This was our second visit to this cottage because we really appreciate its fantastic location in the centre of Bridport. It’s perfectly positioned for shops, restaurants and all that the town has to offer. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need and having a parking space is really useful.Susan is a very good communicator and provided us with a lot of useful information.

Wonderfully central house close to the hub of everything, including Borough Gardens, such a peaceful place, and all the wonderful beaches and walks in the countryside. We all really enjoyed it. The house is comfortable and is well equipped with everything you might need. It's also great that in the very centre of Bridport, you can park just by your door. Thank you for lovely stay.

This cottage is ideally placed in Bridport, in a quiet road within walking distance of quite a few pubs. Bridport itself is a busy town with a few good shops and a good museum.
