Lymington transforms into a magical blend of coastal beauty and woodland gold during October and November. Situated on the southern edge of the New Forest National Park, this Georgian maritime town offers the unique advantage of an autumn break where visitors can enjoy both the crisp sea air and world-class countryside.
Below is a breakdown of why I think autumn in Lymington is so beautiful.
The Coast & Marshes: The brisk autumn walks along the Keyhaven and Pennington Marshes Nature Reserve offer sweeping views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. Migrating wading birds arrive by the thousands, creating a peaceful backdrop for coastal ramblers.
Gold-Hued Woodland Walks: Just minutes inland from the town, trails like the Brockenhurst to Lymington route and Rhinefield Ornamental Drive burst into brilliant shades of amber, copper, and deep gold.
Quay-Side Charm & Markets: The bustling Saturday charter market on Lymington's Georgian High Street stays lively all through autumn. Visitors love grabbing hot coffee at quayside spots like Coffee & Drift after watching the morning mist clear over the yacht marinas.
Unique New Forest Traditions: October marks the famous New Forest "pannage" season, where domestic pigs are released into the open forest to eat fallen acorns, providing a rare and delightful wildlife encounter. Lovely local pubs and restaurants all within walking distance to relax in after a day of exploring. It’s all yours!

Flstvwas beautifully decorated for xmas, it was warm and comfortable and host made sure that everything was good and kept in touch. Great location and weather was perfect. Bus stop literally across the road so we took bus trips along the coast and into the new forest. Had fantastic festive break thankyou Tricia

More a 2 bedroom house than an apartment, the property is light and very spacious with large front room, full kitchen and cloak room downstairs and 2 bedrooms and large family bathroom upstairsOn the end of high street so close to all that Lymington has to offer
