There are various National Trust homes and gardens to discover including Nymans, Sheffield Park and Wakehurst Place, also Leonardslee Gardens, Borde Hill Gardens, as well as vineyards (Rathfinny), ferry trips to Dieppe from nearby Newhaven, and the historic Arundel Castle and nearby Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre.
The glorious South Downs National Park has excellent walks and cycle route, or visit Devils Dyke, or Cissbury Ring. Garden cottage is a very cosy and comfortable home from home in a great location for exploring the coast and inland. Rottingdean is also a very interesting village for exploring on foot, and Brighton is easy to visit by bus. There are also plenty of attractions to visit, including National Trust properties which we saw decorated for Christmas, so an added bonus.
