Manor Cottage is a grade two listed building, built in the 1820s.
Sitting in prime position on the coastal path, in a conservation area on the quiet side of the harbour, the cottage overlooks the beach and lifeboat station.
Boasting a large terrace, it’s a great spot to watch the world go by and, if you’re lucky, a lifeboat launch.
Manor Cottage is a traditional home with modern features and a very well equipped kitchen.
Garage parking included.
The space
3 good sized bedrooms
1 double bedroom downstairs with direct access to a toilet and large walk in wet room/shower. A great self contained space for older teenagers or grandparents.
Excellent views of the harbour from the French doors.
1 double bedroom upstairs next to the family bathroom and bunk bed room.
Superb views across the harbour.
1 bunk bed room at the rear of the building with adult sized single beds.
Kitchen diner on a mezzanine level overlooking the lounge. Access to small back yard.
Lounge with smart TV, two 3 seater sofas and an arm chair. French doors opening out on to the terrace.
Terrace with fantastic views across the harbour and coast. Outdoor furniture with table and seating for 6 people.
Utility area with sink, washing machine and dryer. Accessible from the garage. Good for getting muddy dogs in from outside.
Garage with space for one medium sized car.
Guest access
Access to whole house and use of attached garage.
Other things to note
Harbour beach is only a 2 minute stroll from the cottage.
The cottage overlooks the lifeboat station. Practice nights are usually Thursdays from 6pm. A real treat to see the lifeboat crew launch the lifeboat and carry out practice drills. A great view of this from the terrace.
Ilfracombe is a very relaxed, friendly town with many independent shops, cafes, pubs, ice cream parlours, pasty shops, chip shops and restaurants, as well as a Lidl! Most of which can be reached within a 2-10 minute stroll from the cottage. There is also a large Tesco superstore a 5 minute drive away.
The cottage is situated right on the coastal path. You can take a beautiful walk around the coast to Lee Bay to the West and stop for lunch in the very old and quaint Grampus Inn which has a consistently good contemporary menu (1hr 30mins walk - Grampus will order you a taxi back!). Or an easier Easterly walk to Hele Bay. You can also walk to the top of Hillsborough in around 20 minutes - the hill to the right as you look out from the terrace known locally as 'The Elephant.'
North Devon has a wealth of simply stunning golden sand beaches and has long been a mecca for British surfers. The area has recently been declared a ‘world surfing reserve’, one of just 12 places on the planet along with Australia’s Golden Coast and Malibu in California.
During Easter and throughout the summer, you can take boat rides right from the harbour. Lots of different trips available including dolphin and seal watching. Trips are also available to Lundy Island.
There is a lovely swimming pool only a 10 minute walk along the coast.
Pets are very welcome.
