Using reclaimed wood, bricks that pay homage to the local colliery, exposed stone and copper fittings, this nautical themed property is just perfect for friends, families or couples looking for something just a bit different in Amble. Refurbished in 2020, Captains Nook is an interesting holiday home and only a short walk to the shops, pubs, restaurants and working harbour in this small town. It is a terraced house with three bedrooms, a roll top bath and decorative fireplaces, along with exposed stone and reclaimed timber and nautical features throughout.
Amble is known as the friendliest port and this is reflected in the strong community spirit amongst the local people. Visitors are welcome here and you will see the community out on a Sunday at the local market situated on the harbour. There is also a small harbour village housing mini shopping pods each with something different and set near the infamous Spurrellis ice cream parlour. A lobster hatchery was introduced in 2019 where for a small fee you can walk around and learn about this local delicacy. Boat trips can be taken from the harbour over to Coquet Island, the RSPB sanctuary. Amble has a nice selection of restaurants, some specialising in fish, and the little beach has some pretty beach huts you can rent for a few pounds from the harbour master. Warkworth is just a couple of miles away, a picture postcard village dominated by the castle at the top of the street. The village has riverside walks and a couple of nice cafés and pubs.
Amble sits at the start of the Northumberland Heritage Coast Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you can travel on up to Seahouses, a typical seaside village, or Bamburgh with a large castle open to the public in the summer. Alnwick is just a few miles, where can visit Alnwick Castle, used in some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes. Wander around some of the cobbled streets and have a coffee in Barter Books, one of the largest book stores in England and well worth a visit. Travelling down the coast is easy enough to Tynemouth and Whitley Bay, where a pretty promenade stretches along for lovely walks with plenty of wine bars and bistros to visit. Guests of Captains Nook will enjoy staying in this lovely property with great attention to detail throughout, after a day exploring this diverse, fabulous county. Beach 950 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 400 yards.
