Traditional holiday cottages on a working estate with falconry and bowling alley, in unspoilt countryside in the Tweedsmuir Hills between Edingburgh and Glasgow, ideal for numerous outdoor activities
These traditional, renovated holiday cottages are situated on a working estate in the Scottish Borders area in the picturesque Tweedsmuir Hills. The estate is set in unspoilt countryside with excellent opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, sightseeing, deer stalking, fishing and falconry. The airports of Edinburgh and Glasgow and the ferry port of Newcastle are within easy reach.
In addition to the stables, five cosily furnished holiday cottages are grouped around the cobbled courtyard and are equipped with satellite TV, WLAN and safe. Electric heating and hot water are provided by a private hydroelectric system. The washing machine and tumble dryer are located in the tack room. They are available to all house guests free of charge.
There is an automatic bowling alley on the property, which can be hired for a sociable evening. Furthermore, a picnic table and barbecue are available to all guests in the courtyard. Parking is available on the fully enclosed property.
There is also a falconry on the property.
Six miles to the local grocery shop and 15 miles to two supermarkets. Despite the supposed seclusion in the middle of nature, the location is still central. Edinburgh with its wide range of attractions, shopping facilities and the international airport are just under an hour's drive away. The surrounding area offers unlimited opportunities for extensive cycling and hiking tours, hunting, falconry and fishing in idyllic waters. Well-known Scottish cities such as Edinburgh or Glasgow, market towns such as Peebles, Moffat and Biggar await your visit. Traquair House (the oldest permanently inhabited country estate in Scotland), Abbotford House (home of Sir Walter Scott), Hadrian's Wall and numerous abbeys can be reached in less than an hour by car.
The two-storey holiday home has a living space of 80 m², was renovated in 2014 and can accommodate four people. The living room on the ground floor offers a cosy seating area with two sofas and a TV (satellite TV) as well as a dining area. Next door is the modern country kitchen, which is equipped with a hob, microwave with oven function, fridge, freezer compartment and kettle. There is also a shower room on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a through bedroom and the main bathroom. The bedroom has a 180 cm wide double bed as well as a double sofa bed and a desk. The upper bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, toilet and washbasin.
