Visit England 3 Star.. Troutbeck Bridge is a great base from where to explore a host of Lakeland attractions. Mid way between Windermere and Ambleside, holiday makers can sample the Roman Fort at Ambleside, Brockhole Visitors Centre and take in some impressive high-level views over Windermere Lake from the Troutbeck valley, all within manageable walking distance of the cottage or an easy drive. Taking it’s name from the local pure bred breed of sheep, Herdwick Cottage is warm and welcoming and provides comfortable traditional accommodation.
The cottage benefits from a decked garden to the rear which is perfect for relaxing in and surveying the views of the surrounding hills.

Lovely cottage, beautiful views out on the decking.. Equipped with everything we needed. Very peaceful location. The only down side is it needs to be cleaner. Lots of muck under the beds, (searching for an earring I dropped) plenty of cobwebs. Wherever I'm staying or however much I'm paying I do expect it to be clean.. Otherwise very nice. 😁

We have just come home from a fantastic week at this cottage.I would recommend staying here it's in a very peaceful location with a pub and shop very close by and windermere 5 min drive.The cottage is equipped with everything you need and is so cosy on chilly nights with the log burner.Everything you need

Cosy, comfy, kitchen well stocked with cooking tools. Attention to detail like a true home from home. Excellent base from which to explore the Lake District. Pet friendly. Parking would be an issue during peak holiday season though.
