For those who love the great outdoors there is Dalby Forest, with cycle and walking trails, as well as miles of hiking routes around the surrounding moorland, and you are only 30 minutes’ drive away from the coast.
Along the coastline you have the towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Robin Hood’s Bay. For anyone interested in history you have the stately home of Castle Howard, Helmsley Castle and Walled Gardens, or even Eden Camp, which was a prisoner of war camp that has since been transformed into a museum.
Children will be delighted with a day out at Flamingo Land theme park and zoo. After a busy day of exploring this is the perfect base to return to for a cosy stay.
