The coastal village of Southerness has undoubtedly some of the most outstanding views of the Solway Firth, and even stretches over to the Lake District in Cumbria.
Explore the beach and striking white lighthouse, originally built in 1749, or why not challenge yourself on the nearby championship golf course? From Beachcomber Lodge you have an ideal base in which to explore beautiful Dumfries and Galloway from its beaches and coves to cliff top walks and forest trails.

Only downside was that although your allowed into accommodation at 3pm when we arrived at 4pm the gentleman was still making the beds which meant hanging around until he finished (not ideal after a 3 hour drive with everyone needing a co...
