Explore the peace of the surrounding woodland and see if you can glimpse the kingfisher and heron that sometimes fish in the 16th-century castle moat. Afterward, make your way back to your idyllic hideaway, detour past the 18th-century dovecote before meandering through the charming maze which has been created as a memorial to the witches who met their fate at the Crook of Devon Witch Trials.
