The historic seafaring town of Fowey is famous for the home of the writer Daphne Du Maurier and the location of the annual Fowey Royal Regatta in August and the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature in May. It is a mecca for water sports enthusiasts from sailing and sea fishing to kayaking up the river - Fowey has it all! Coastal walks and boat trips along the river and out to sea, where you may spot dolphins and seals, can be taken from the quay, as can a ferry across the bay to Mevagissey.
The pretty little beach at the quaintly named Readymoney Cove is a short stroll away and the perfect spot in which to explore the rock pools, go crabbing or simply lie on the beach! There are many National Trust gardens and houses in the area, as well as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

We had a lovely stay in Fowey. Carnethic house was warm and cosy when we returned after a day exploring Cornwall in January. The apartment was well equiped, very comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. It was lovely to be able to use the pool and the gardens were beautiful.
