Robert Burns, Scotland’s national Bard, lived, worked and is buried in the town.The River Nith, running through the town, is lined by walks through attractive green spaces, most notably Dock Park and Castledykes Park with its secret sunken garden. The cottage is a conversion from a former coach house and provides a luxurious holiday base fully equipped for quiet nights in after a day of exploring.
Alternatively, there are restaurants, pubs, take-aways and food outlets in and around the town. Dumfries is well-placed to enjoy all kinds of opportunities that this beautiful and unspoiled region of the country has to offer.
