Uplands is a beautiful, detached cottage set quietly on the fringes of the town and ideally placed for a wander into the centre with its many cafés, restaurants and shops, and also ideally placed to explore the wider area by car. Uplands has undergone a complete refurbishment in 2020 and is beautifully decorated throughout.
The open plan living space is the hub of the cottage and is a very sociable space to sit and relax over a glass of wine or a meal.
For those of a competitive nature, the garden also includes a giant chess game! The large wood burner is the focal point of this lovely space and perfect for those chillier evenings. The area surrounding Uplands is a joy to discover.
There are various and varied walks available, from scenic coastal walks to marked forest trails.
For the biking enthusiasts you have the world class Dalbeattie 7Stanes mountain trail on your doorstep, as well as Mabie Forest.
It is a popular location for mountain bikers of all levels.
With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is sure to be something for everyone.
Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust), historical sites and castles to explore.

Overall, we had an excellent stay at Uplands. It was is a comfortable and well-equipped cottage that made a brilliant base for exploring the area. We found the layout of the cottage ideal for staying with 3 children (5, 3, and 1) as it is spacious and on the level. It would have been handy if the garden was completely enclosed, but this is a very minor niggle!

Uplands has everything you could need for a family stay. We were provided with a lovely welcome package of sweets, biscuits and wine. The property also had laundry facilities, washing tablets and dishwasher tablets. We were a stones throw from the park which was great for the kids, plus a short walk...
