This cosy lower ground floor apartment was formed from the net store of what was once a fisherman’s cottage, quietly tucked away within the charming village of Staithes.
Set over the lower ground floor level, this holiday home is situated below a two-storey cottage and is an ideal retreat for couples wanting to get away from it all. The open plan living area with exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and a warming woodburning stove creates the perfect space to snuggle around on cooler evenings! With a pretty double bedroom and spacious shower room, Grimes Nook provides traditional, comfortable accommodation.
Outside is a small front patio with bench where you can sit with a morning cup of coffee, whilst soaking up the atmosphere in this quaint, historic village.
A two minute walk brings you to local inns, tea rooms and village shops, whilst the harbour and beach are just a stone's throw away.
Wander around the narrow, cobbled streets and alleyways, or enjoy an invigorating walk along the cliffs to nearby Runswick Bay. A little further up the coast you will find the old spa town of Saltburn, with its elegant architecture and lovely sandy beach, whilst the vibrant port of Whitby offers excellent restaurants, independent shops and ancient abbey.
With both the stunning North York Moors and the coast to discover, Grimes Nook can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

Grimes Nook is a lower ground floor apartment in the seaside village of Staithes. This apartment sleeps two people in one double bedroom and also has a shower room and an open plan living area with kitchenette, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove. Outside there is a small front sitting area with bench and parking is in a nearby car park (Pay and display car parks available in the top part of the village, charges apply at certain times of the year). Grimes Nook is an ideal romantic retreat in a lovely area, with the North York Moors, Whitby and Scarborough all well worth exploring. Note: A starter pack for the wood burning stove is provided October to March inclusive.

The property was a lovely base for our holiday. The bed was comfortable and I was very happy to have an ironing board and iron available as clothes do get creased in a suitcase.
The cleanliness was not of a high standard but was OK. I am extremely houseproud so my standard is exceptionally high.
We will definitely use Sykes Cottages again.

We had a wonderful stay in grimes nook cottage. The cottage was within 2 minutes walk to the pubs and sea front.The cottage was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. We will definitely be staying again.

Small but lovely little cottage, ideal for two people and the dog, everything you need. Grill didn’t work but the oven did. Had a great stay in Staithes our favourite place
