Thimble Cottage, is a truly charming south facing, light and airy 1850s semi-detached former fisherman’s cottage set in the heart of the harbour in the centre of Mevagissey and backing onto the coastal path.
It can only be reached by foot, bliss no cars, bag drop and 2 minutes walk.
Beautifully and tastefully renovated cottage that is full of character with whitewashed walls, beamed ceilings, antique furniture and a woodburning stove.
Set over three floors the cottage is approached up a cobbled path and steps and would therefore be unsuitable for those with limited mobility.
You enter into the pretty open-plan kitchen with a dining area before taking the stairs to the spacious sitting room with log burner and stable door to court yard.
The two bedrooms, a double and a twin are both located on the second floor and both benefit from fantastic sea and harbour views.
The pretty courtyard garden where you can enjoy an early morning cup of tea listening to the gulls in the harbour with a side gate leading you out onto the coastal path.
Mevagissey is a working harbour, where you can watch the fishermen land their catch, mend their nets which they have being doing since 1430 or just watch the boats bobbing up and down.
Mevagissey has a long history of smuggling and piracy. It’s a picture postcard quaint Cornish harbour.
A fine selection of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants as well as a cluster of art galleries around the harbour walls and line the pretty maze of streets.
Nearby the leading tourist attractions Eden Project, 8 miles away or walk 1.5 miles to The Lost Gardens of Heligan from Thimbles front door.
There is so much to do in and around the village that you could well enjoy a holiday here without having to take to the car. With the beach, the stunning coastal path and a variety of boat trips, catch the Mevagissey to Fowey passenger ferry, you will have all you need here for a truly memorable holiday.
