These 2 unique and historic Medieval Gatehouses are the only ones remaining and originally built around 1385, they now provide luxury accommodation within a Grade II listed property. Situated in the heart of Coventry city overlooking Lady Herbert’s Garden, Cook Street Gate is an Oasis in the City. They have been lovingly restored by Historic Coventry Trust to find a new life as unique accommodation for visitors to the city. Each of the Historic Coventry Trust’s properties are unique, have lots of character and offers guests something different so you’ll want to keep returning and try out all the properties and work out which is your favourite! Both Gate House properties have original features including historic stonework, comfortable beds and modern furnishings. As you enter Cook Street Gate, there is a modern kitchenette, with Corian grey quartz worktop, fridge with icebox, integrated microwave, and quality cooking equipment. The large bedroom area has a modern comfy bed, with flat-screen HD TV windows with a view over to Lady Herbert’s Garden.
This is a perfect short break for couples and independent visitors wanting something a little different from their stay. There’s always plenty going on in the city including an exciting range of music at the recently restored Drapers’ Hall, just round the corner. There are an array of shops, bars and restaurants just moments away and discover Coventry Cathedral which stands beside the ruins of the former which was bombed in World War II. The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and Coventry Transport Museum are also a very short walk away. Having a longer break? Then discover more of what Warwickshire has to offer including the famous castle in Warwick for a great day out, Shakespeare’s Stratford Upon Avon to discover his birthplace, take in one of his famous plays at the RSC Theatre or take a boat trip on the river. Royal Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Birmingham are also all in easy reach.
