This lovely village is in peaceful countryside and has three churches and two pubs and sits on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
Nearby Chesterfield is famous for its crooked spire and offering a large range of facilities including shops, restaurants, cafés, cinema, bowling, swimming, gyms and Walton golf club although private they do accept visitors.
Oakleigh provides a great holiday base for discovering the many attractions and activities available in the Peak District.
Within a 10 miles radius there is Chatsworth House, Bolsover Castle, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Matlock Bath with cable car to the heights of Abraham, Darley Dale steam railway and the Crich tramway museum to name but a few. A little further afield you will discover picturesque villages including Ashford-in-the-Water, Eyam plague village, Winster and Castleton with its caverns and castle and Buxton spa town. A very comfortable cottage. Situated in a quiet location and an ideal base to explore the Peak District.We encountered typical English weather, sleet, snow and lovely sunny days! The cottage was warm and welcoming.

Lovely setting backing onto fields and handy for Chatsworth. The cottage was immaculate and really well equipped. Enjoyed walking in beautiful countryside. The welcome pack was lovely too. Will definitely return.

Had a great few days at Oakleigh. The location was great for us to visit the places we wished to. Also lovely just to walk from the door. The only criticisms were that the bedroom only had a white blind with no curtains so very bright in the mornings once the sun came up, so a lie in was impossible. The oven trays needed cleaning before use. Apart from that we enjoyed our short stay very much.
