Chagford 1 mile.
Resting on the outskirts of Chagford in the Dartmoor National Park, close to the river Teign, is this wonderfully renovated barn conversion, Higher Weddicott Barn.
Enjoy the spectacular views of Dartmoor: take a five minute walk from the property to experience the scenery from Meldon rocks: ideal for a morning run or to just blow away the cobwebs! This historic granite barn was built in the 1700s and has retained much of its Dartmoor threshing barn character, whilst adding contemporary touches for couples, friends, and families alike to enjoy; a plethora of things to see and do await in a stunning part of Devon.
The property also benefits from a private supply of Dartmoor spring water (purified and regularly tested). After soaking up the views of Haytor in the distance, be welcomed into the warmth of Higher Weddicott Barn, boasting underfloor heating to ensure comfort whatever the weather.
The light-filled open-plan living room comes with everything you need for a self-catering experience, and the impressive floor-to-ceiling windows frame the stunning views.
The spacious country-style kitchen is certain to encourage home-cooking by making use of the Kitchen Aid electric oven, halogen hob, microwave, and ample preparation space, before gathering your loved ones at the large dining table to raise a glass to a holiday in Devon.
Continuing to impress, Higher Weddicott Barn comes with a handy utility, where you can easily wash and dry your clothes after an action-packed day of exploring the surrounding countryside.
The ground floor also features a king-size bedroom with en-suite, walk-in shower, basin and WC. Head up the staircase to find a further three elegantly-appointed bedrooms, each one designed to suit a range of parties and provide wonderful views to wake up to each morning.
Meldon is the twin bedroom tastefully decorated in hues of blue and gold, boasting two 4ft beds, good wardrobe space, a TV and a sleek en-suite bathroom.
The next room along the open staircase is Haytor, where you will be delighted to find a plush king-size bed, crystal chandelier, a TV and its own en-suite bathroom.
Concluding the interior is the master bedroom, a space boasting a mahogany sleigh bed and its own seating area with TV, perfect for those lazy Sunday mornings; the bedroom also comes with an en-suite featuring an elegant freestanding bath and a walk-in shower.
To the exterior of Higher Weddicott Barn, you will find generous off-road parking and access to a large patio area, where you can look forward to lighting up the barbecue, whilst admiring the views of surrounding Dartmoor and the opportunity to enjoy the incredible night sky, free from light pollution.
From here, head into the nearby town of Chagford for a wide range of shops for those last-minute essentials and holiday gifts, as well as a choice of pubs for those special occasions.
Whilst here, be sure to visit the ancient city of Exeter with further amenities and a number of attractions worth exploring, including the Underground Passages, the Cathedral, the beautiful Quayside and the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum to delve into the city’s past.
Look forward to exploring your surroundings further by visiting the National Trust owned Castle Drogo, a 20th-century castle with medieval flair or visit Scorhill Stone Circle, one of Devon's biggest and most intact stone circles.
For those feeling more adventurous, visit Devon Country Pursuits, where you will find opportunities for clay shooting, archery and paintball, explore Haldon Forest Park or have a go at Go Ape! Alternatively, use your time at Higher Weddicott Barn to discover the rolling hills of the Dartmoor National Park, which rest on your doorstep, making a wonderful retreat to enjoy all year-round.
