Old Post Office offers a quaint family holiday for those wishing to hike, cycle, kayak or just relax at the local cafes, restaurants and beaches.
Enter through an eye-catching red door, discovering an attractive sitting room, with tartan furniture and a woodburning stove, you are sure to feel right at home in this rustic space as you catch up on your favourite TV shows.
A contemporary kitchen offers an open space to prepare meals, and the designated chef will not be able to resist the home-from-home amenities, where you can rustle up a masterpiece amongst the wood and tiled furnishings and serve it in the spacious dining room with a central wooden table, sitting area and TV, as well as a view across the bay. Great for a family of five, this cottage offers three bedrooms, beginning with a king-size offering quirky décor, a large wardrobe and ample storage, a twin with a homely feel, and a single room. A large family shower room offers a relaxing soak after a day of exploring the beaches, with a lovely contemporary feel that will ease the cool Hebridean chill from your skin.
Outside, a delightful garden awaits, with shrubs, a patio where a seating area allows for morning coffee to be enjoyed with a cup of tea and a view of the boats bobbing in the bay, whilst picnics can be enjoyed on the lawn.
When the time comes to explore, begin your journey by visiting the local bay, where the sandy and rocky shores make for a wonderful walk, or head to local white sand beaches where you can even try out wild swimming! The local area offers an abundance of lochs, strewn with beautiful lily pads, perfect for enjoying both the wildlife and the fresh countryside air. For keen walkers, there are hikes available at the North Harris Hills, where you can immerse yourself in the rugged landscape, or you can have a more relaxed day exploring the local shops, cafes and produce available, for example the area around the property offers Harris Tweed and Knitwear, Clo Mor Harris Tweed Exhibition and Ardbuidhe Cottage Gallery.
Further afield you will find the town of Tarbert, where there are several pubs to choose from, for example the Harris Hotel, as well as restaurant to try out local cuisine, one being Flavour.
There is also a local convenience store where you can stock up on essentials before you head out for a day of exploring.
With such a lovely location and a home-from-home cottage, you are bound to love your stay in the Isle of Harris with a stay at the Old Post Office.
The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.

The Old Post Office was absolutely perfect. The attention to detail and hospitality was top notch. The views of the water were superb and lovely to come back to after a day exploring the beautiful land of Harris and Lewis. I would thoroughly recommend this peaceful, well appointed home and will be raving about it to friends and family back home in Australia!

My wife and I and our two adult children had an absolutely delightful 4 day stay at the Old Post Office. It is so comfortable and tranquil. Even better than the photos. The cottage and the setting was so peaceful and is well situated for exploring Harris. The kitchen, in particular, is well appointed. We very much appreciated Johan's welcoming touches. We would love to return. Highly recommended.
