This delightful, charming Semi-Detached Cottage is beautifully positioned on the shoreline of Dunstaffnage Bay overlooking the loch, mountains and Dunstaffnage Castle. Fully equipped and furnished in an understated elegant contemporary style and surrounded in nature the shoreline offers a relaxing stay where you can observe the wildlife, stroll and meander along the seashore or just sit for a while and contemplate the stunningly beautiful panoramic views with spectacular sunsets from the comfort of the house or garden. With ducks and birds regularly visiting the permaculture mini orchard garden, you can walk directly from the front garden onto the shore – it is quite unforgettable. A historical vantage point, where the cottage now stands, the awe-inspiring views were endorsed in a sketch by one of Britain’s most celebrated artists, William Turner (sketches can be viewed online or in person at Tate Britain Millbank London).
Situated on the edge of Dunbeg village, the well-stocked village shop is only a few minutes’ walk from the cottage, as is the Dunstaffnage Marina. There is a popular café and garden centre about half a mile from the cottage. You are only 10 minutes’ walk from the historic Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel ruins, woodland and back beach seaside walk, small café/restaurant and ocean visitor centre. The bustling, picturesque seaside town of Oban is just a short 5 minute drive/bus ride away, where you will find the iconic MaCaig‘s Tower perched high on a cliff proudly standing sentry over the harbour while the equally iconic Dunnollie Castle stands guard over the Bay. Oban, the Gateway to the islands, has much to offer – Ganavan Sands, Oban Cathedral, Corran Halls, Leisure centre, yachting, boating, water sports, golf course, churches, cinema, hotel, bars, shops, restaurants. Oban also boasts an excellent distillery and its own popular Whisky. Day trips within easy reach include the Island of Mull, historic Glencoe, adventure-filled Fort William and Ben Nevis, or the iconic Inveraray with its castle and infamous jail.
