This characterful holiday home in the village is beautifully refurbished with modern creature comforts, spacious enough for large families & welcomes dogs too.
A Lakeland slate tiled hall leads to the dining room, with doors to garden and interesting beamed archway to the modern kitchen.
Heated cloakroom for drying walking gear, shower room and WC. The cosy living room has a Lakeland slate fireplace, inset woodburning stove, old oak beams and soft cushioned furnishings.
Upstairs to the four bedrooms; 1 double, 1 double with extra single bed, 1 twin and 1 single.
Excellent main house shower room with shower, WC and basin. At the gateway to the Langdale Valley, Elterwater village is a perfect location for soaking up the scenery, with walks in every direction and a warm welcome at the renowned Britannia Inn. Chesters by the River is a fantastic veggie café with amazing lunches and cakes.
Elterwater was once home to a gunpowder factory which used superior quality flint only found in the renowned local slate quarries.
Today it’s all about peace and quiet.
A short drive away is the bustling village of Ambleside, and the shores of Lake Windermere.
Here you’ll enjoy cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops.
Also nearby is Coniston water, the Lake District's third largest lake.
There you'll find more opportunities for boating activities, perhaps discovering Peel Island - featured in Arthur Ransome's Swallows & Amazons as 'Wild Cat Island'. Beautiful Tarn Hows is close by too, with another great pub the Drunken Duck.
