Tarn End Cottage Talkin Tarn forms part of the former hotel now converted to 12 luxurious cottages with landscaped communal gardens leading to the jetty overlooking Talkin Tarn. 5 Tarn End is in an enviable location with uninterrupted views across the garden to the tarn. The cottage, for 4, is perfect for a family getaway or 2 couples holidaying together at any time of year, families can enjoy the organised activities on site bookable through Talkin Adventures including archery courses, shelter building, paddle boarding and canoeing.
Park your car in the car park opposite and make your way through the landscaped courtyard with an array of scented flowers. Once inside the warm and cosy cottage, marvel at the view through the picture window in front of you with view over the garden to the tarn, relax on the comfy sofas in front of the Smart TV and modern electric fire. Equipped with everything you will need to rustle up a delicious meal which can be enjoyed at the dining table or on the patio overlooking the tarn. As evening descends climb the stairs to the bedrooms with the master bedroom having an en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom can be converted to a king size bed on request. The luxurious family bathroom has a copper bath ideal for relaxing with a glass of bubble after a days adventures.
The cottages has LPG central heating, electric, bed linen, towels and WiFi included. Private patio with seating and shared use of the communal landscaped garden with access to the shared jetty with seating overlooking the tarn. Parking permit for 1 car provided for the onsite car park.
Talkin Tarn is in an area of natural beauty surrounded by countryside, woodland walks and Castle Carrock Fell. The tarn itself has a circular walk of 1.3 miles passing through woodlands and the Boathouse Café and Gift Shop where you can enjoy a coffee or lunch al fresco overlooking the tarn. Subject to license fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing and windsurfing are available on the tarn. A footpath leads from the tarn to the village of Talkin with country pub serving delicious meals, there is also Brampton Golf Course with bar and restaurant within a short walk or a 5 minute drive takes you to Brampton with shops, cafes, takeaways, pubs and restaurants. The area is surrounded by historical sites including Carlisle Castle and Cathedral, Lanercost Priory and tea rooms, and perhaps the best known is the World Heritage Hadrian’s Wall. Being just off the A69 and a 20 minute drive from the M6, Talkin Tarn is easily accessible which also makes exploring the whole of Cumbria easy with Lake Ullswater, the Solway Coast, Scottish Borders and Newcastle all less than 1.5 hour drive.

Nestled in an area of natural beauty, with uninterrupted views over the tarn, the 12 cottages have been developed from the former Tarn End Hotel to provide luxurious accommodation in a tranquil setting.
Talkin Tarn nestles 9 miles East of Carlisle and 2 miles south of Brampton where there are shops, bars and restaurants. The footpath from your door leads to the village of Talkin, relax with a local ale and meal in the village inn. Wander down to The Boathouse Cafe and Gift Shop, enjoy a coffee and lunch al fresco overlooking the tarn or hire a rowing boat, try your hand at stand up paddle boarding, kayaking or archery. If you prefer a more laid back activity a stroll around the 1.3 mile tarn takes you through the mature woodland, you can fish to your hearts content (subject to licence) from the shores of the tarn or enjoy a round of golf, the course literally overlooks the cottages. Further afield there are numerous historical sites within a short drive including Lanercost Priory and Tea Rooms, Hadrian’s Wall and Carlisle Castle. Situated a short drive from the A69 both Carlisle and Newcastle are easily accessible and the shores of Lake Ullswater are just over an hours drive away.
With views over the tarn, No 5 is a luxury 2 bedroom cottage providing home from home comforts in an enviable location, perfect for a family get away with a wealth of activities close by for all the family to enjoy. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room has comfy sofas around the fireplace with electric log burning stove, Smart TV and views to the Tarn, there is access to the patio leading to the landscaped gardens and tarn. The luxury kitchen with dining area overlooks the gardens to the tarn and is fully equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, wine cooler, washer/dryer and microwave. Cloakroom.
To the first floor are 2 bedrooms, the master double room with king size bed and views over the Tarn and en-suite slate tiled shower room. The twin bedroom can be made up to a king size bed on request at the time of booking with en-suite bathroom with copper bath overlooking the Tarn and separate shower.
All gas, electric, bed linen and towels included. Two parking permits for the car park opposite with EV charging points and secure bike store. A private patio area has table and chairs to take in the spectacular view and shared use of the landscaped gardens with lights guiding you to the tarn and jetty.
