The village of Bowness on Solway is best known for being located at the start (or end) of Hadrian’s Wall in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Located on the shores of the Solway Coast in the Moricambe Bay the area is a haven for the local bird life making the sand dunes, salt marsh, shingle beds and peat mosses their home.
There are viewpoints for spotting waders, curlew, golden and grey plover, lapwings and many more birds scattered along the shoreline.
Guests looking for a relaxing away from it all holiday but within easy reach of city life and national parks opt to stay here.
The village itself has a tea room, village pub and bistro.
Carlisle is within half an hours drive, the Lake District is within an hours drive and the Victorian coastal village of Silloth is within half an hour. Located in the centre of the village on the former site of the Roman Fort of Maia which was the second largest fort on Hadrian’s Wall and within a 5 minute walk of the sea front Bowness House Farm provides 4 self catering holiday cottages in the courtyard, the orchard is home to 4 shepherds huts and a luxurious 7 room bed and breakfast is in the old farmhouse.
Guests have complimentary access to the fully equipped gym and breakfast is served in the onsite Bistro open for breakfast, lunch and dinner or to simply enjoy a refreshing drink. This modern 7 room farmhouse has rooms for 2 to 5 guests each with their own en-suite shower rooms, TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
Each room has a double bed with the family rooms having the addition of a bunk bed. Breakfast is served daily in the Bistro.

We wish we could have stayed longer! The staff were wonderful and the family room had everything we needed for 2 adults and 3 children. The Bistro food was great and they had a good vegetarian dinner selection and offered vegetarian sausages with breakfast. Definitely would stay again.

we very much enjoyed our stay. we found it difficult to find Sians Retreat. This is only the name of the hut. So we were unsure if we where Sians Retreat is. \r\nthe garden could be nicer.
