Broadford 12.6 miles.
Set above the shores of the Sound of Sleat with uninterrupted views towards the wild mountains of Knoydart, The Lookout offers a peaceful, destination-style escape on Skye’s southern peninsula.
Designed for slow mornings, sea-watching and evenings by the woodburning stove, this contemporary cottage blends panoramic scenery with calm, comfortable living — the perfect base to unwind and reconnect.
Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home into a light and airy reception area leading to the open-plan living space; the social hub of the home, it boasts all the necessities required to make your self-catered stay a success, as well as plenty of places to relax and spend quality time with your loved ones.
Allow your designated chef to rustle up a tasty dish as you set the table, ready to tuck in as the conversation flows and wine is poured.
If you prefer to dine alfresco, step out into the enclosed garden or onto the front deck and take advantage of the garden furniture, where the lush greenery and serene coastal scenery of the Sleat Peninsula, often called “the Garden of Skye”, creates a tranquil backdrop for your meal.
Soak up your pretty vistas for a little while longer before curling up on the sumptuous sofa in front of the roaring woodburning stove.
If you begin to feel tired, wash away the day in a sleek shower room before retreating to one of three neatly-presented bedrooms including two king-size and a triple bunk, a tranquil spot to slope off into a deep slumber.
Sit and soak up the breath-taking views from the property, which not only include the mystical ruins of Knock Castle, ancient stronghold of the MacDonald clan, but also sweep across the Sound of Sleat to the wild and rugged mountain peaks of uninhabited Knoydart on the mainland, framed by the verdant landscapes of the Sleat Peninsula.
While away the hours spotting dolphins and eagles using the high-definition telescope in the living area, or spend the evenings enjoying a great selection of board games and books, before snuggling up and watching a movie on the 42" Smart TV. There are plenty of children's books and beanbags too, perfect for the little ones in your group to enjoy! If you can tear yourself away, venture to the nearby village of Armadale, where you can find a shop, perfect for stocking up on the essentials; further afield is Broadford, hosting a supermarket and a selection of bars and restaurants, perfect for a delicious local meal or light refreshments! Food lovers will be spoilt for choice in Sleat, renowned for its vibrant dining scene and fresh local produce.
Indulge in relaxed Scottish dishes at Am Praban Bar & Restaurant, savour fine dining with a strong focus on local ingredients at Kinloch Lodge, or enjoy award-winning cuisine at Duisdale House Hotel, which proudly holds two AA rosettes.
For classic Scottish dining with waterfront views, head to Hotel Eilean Iarmain, or visit The Inn at Àird a' Bhàsair for historic charm overlooking the Sound of Sleat.
For lighter bites and coffee, try Café Ostaig or stop by Torabhaig Distillery, an unmissable attraction offering whisky tours and tastings, with a café as an added benefit.
Spend the day at the spectacular Sandy Beach, Aird of Sleat, where you can admire the beautiful views, take a scenic stroll or paddle along the shores, or journey to Dunscaith Castle and tour the ancient ruins.
For an easy day trip to the mainland, hop on the CalMac ferry route from Armadale or Ardvasar to Mallaig.
This crossing is not only convenient but also offers the chance to spot dolphins, porpoises, seals, and even basking sharks.
From Mallaig, it’s a short drive to Arisaig and Morar, home to stunning white-sand beaches.
Well-positioned to embark on a challenging hike to the summit of Bla Bheinn and Sgurr Alasdair, there is plenty to see and do. Immerse yourself in Gaelic culture at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the nearby Gaelic College, hosting lectures, concerts and community events throughout the year.
Hop in your car and tour the Isle of Skye's impressive list of global bucket list destinations, including The Old Man of Storr, famous for being the filming location for the BFG movie, The Quiraing, the Fairy Pools and the Fairy Glen.
Tour the whisky distilleries of the island, sample some of Scotland's finest cuisine at the famous 3 Michelin Star restaurant The Three Chimneys, hike to the abandoned fishing village of Leitir Fura or wander the streets of Portree with its picturesque harbour and colourfully painted houses.
For a truly unforgettable break on the Isle of Skye, book a stay at The Lookout.
