Located in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Beer in East Devon, is the wonderful one-bedroom apartment at Durham House.
Furnished and equipped to a high standard, this ground-floor accommodation is ideal for a couple wishing to enjoy all that this seaside village has to offer.
Beer is situated on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and its picturesque cliffs, including Beer Head, form part of the South West Coast Path, making this a popular choice for walkers or visitors at any time of the year. A property built using the local Beer stone, Durham House offers spacious accommodation with a wealth of characterful features typical of the late Victorian era, including a beautiful feature fireplace.
The open-plan living space is welcoming and homely with the large bay window flooding the room with light, while the kitchen and dining areas have doors which open onto a rear courtyard, providing the ideal spot to unwind with a book and enjoy a cold glass of bubbly.
A welcome pack for your stay ensures a great start to your holiday and includes milk, tea and a selection of locally sourced produce and treats so you’ll feel at home from the moment you arrive. After a long day, find the charming, king-size bedroom designed for tranquillity and catching up on some well-earned rest; steps lead to an elegantly-presented, en-suite bathroom where you can indulge a long soak and complete your evening routine before sloping off into a deep sleep. Beer is nestled on the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline, famous for its quarried stone that has been used in many historic buildings such as Exeter and St Paul's Cathedrals.
The breathtaking beach is just a short stroll away and is a popular spot for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking, where you can try your hand at something new if you’re feeling up to the challenge! Why not join one of the local mackerel fishing trips which run regularly or simply watch the local fishermen with their traditional fishing boats bringing their catches ashore? When it comes to food, there is no shortage of options for eating out with Beer having a fantastic choice of restaurants and pubs offering local food and of course, fresh seafood; be sure to also sample a pint of Beer at the aptly-named Barrel of Beer.
The nearby seaside town of Seaton is a great place to visit, offering The Wetlands Centre, made up of three nature reserves with nearly 4km of level trails and broadwalk through beautiful marshland and reed beds alongside the River Axe estuary.
Lyme Regis, renowned for fossil hunting and the iconic Cobb harbour, is another favourite and well within reach for a memorable day out. Apartment 1, Durham House is an excellent choice with so much to see and do at anytime of the year.
