Hill Cottage Braithwaite is the perfect base for cyclists, walkers, couples or families with everything within a short distance yet in a quieter village of the Lake District allowing for a relaxing holiday.
Located on the edge of the village, yet within 100 yards of the village shop, the cottage allows some of the best fell views, including Skiddaw.
An array of birds and wildlife visit the garden, where al fresco meals can be enjoyed or watch the sun set with a glass of wine after a day’s adventure.
The Newlands Valley and Catbells can both be walked from the door.
The neighbouring village of Portinscale is a 5 minute drive and has a café serving delicious sweet treats, or head over Newlands Pass to explore the quieter western lakes of Crummock Water and Buttermere.
The cottage is furnished and equipped with everything needed to ensure your break is memorable and leave you yearning to return year after year. The cottage has gas central heating and is accessed by the entrance porch, perfect for leaving muddy boots and drying coats.
The spacious lounge/dining area is the perfect retreat for a relaxing evening, get comfy on either the 2 or 3 seater sofa whilst watching your favorite TV program or a film on the DVD, or why not enjoy the latest novel in the armchair by the window, the flame effect gas fire provides a focal point on chilly evenings.
Positioned to make the best of the view over the garden, the dining table is in front of the French doors leading out to the patio, linger a while with a morning cuppa while planning the adventures of the day. The breakfast room/kitchen is well equipped to rustle up a family meal with a built in electric oven and separate induction hob, microwave/grill, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, sit at the table and keep the chef company whilst they prepare meals.
The conservatory just off the kitchen houses the tumble dryer and an electric drying rack.
There is a handy downstairs cloakroom with hanging space and WC. The staircase (warning for those with mobility problems: the staircase is quite steep and narrow) leads to the first floor which has a master double bedroom with king size bed and twin bedroom with pine beds, both at the rear of the property with views over the garden to the fells beyond.

The family bathroom has a shower over bath, hand basin and WC. All gas, electric, bed linen and towels are provided.
Wi-Fi available. One well behaved dog welcome. A gravelled drive to the front of the cottage can accommodate 2 cars and the garage is perfect for storing bikes and outdoor gear.
The enclosed rear garden has a patio with garden furniture, al fresco meals can be enjoyed whilst taking in the fell views.
Please note despite having beds for 6 people, the cottage only accommodates 5 people.

Fantastic
Newlovely house and garden, good location and very well equipped

A couple of things- the fridge isn't working very well- I appreciate it was very hot last week but it was difficult to get the fridge to the correct temperature.\r\n\r\nThe refuse and recycling bins were not collected whilst we were there and had not been collected the previous week either as they were very full

Excellent all round. Highly r3ccomendable. Expensive for two, but good value for 5/6. One suggestion - would be helpful to have a grabrail in bath/ shower for us oldies, and a soap dish attached to shower wall. Regards.
