Daweswood Patterdale Ullswater is approached along a magical, woodland driveway where the view opens up onto the Edwardian Arts and Crafts house built in 1909 by renowned builders G H Pattinson from local materials.
Paying homage to its origins the current owners have furnished and equipped the cottage to a high standard with traditional colours and William Morris textiles combined with modern bathrooms and the latest appliances to form a warm and cosy home from home suitable for 2 families or a group of friends holidaying together.
There are 3 acres of gardens and enchanted woodlands that surround the house and lead directly onto the fells, a children’s delight, play hide and seek, search out the elves, go hunting for local wildlife including red squirrels, deer and nocturnal badgers or simply enjoy woodland walks dappled in the summer sunshine (children should be supervised at all times). The cottage has oil central heating and comprises: A stone porch with studded door leads to the wood panelled entrance hall with stained glass windows and magnificent staircase.
The living room has a comfy sofa and leather armchairs arranged around the open fire with wooden mantlepiece or relax in the alcove bay window with cushioned seating and take in the view over the woodland, Smart TV with DVD player and large selection of DVD’s to keep you entertained.
The dining room is the social hub of the house, catch up on your days adventures over dinner at the dining table or enjoy one of the many board games or books provided, whilst the wood burning stove set in an ornate wooden fireplace keeps your warm and toasty, there is a Chesterfield sofa and 2 armchairs perfect for pre dinner drinks, or simply just relaxing after a day on the fells, the leaded windows look out to the woodland and there is a access to the covered terrace.
The well equipped kitchen with a stone floor has everything needed to rustle up a delicious home cooked meal including a Belfast sink, Rangemaster double oven and gas hob, large American fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
There is a laundry cupboard with washing machine and tumble dryer and a separate boot room, perfect for drying wet clothing and muddy boots after a days exploring.
The breakfast room is kept warm with the wood burning stove, also has a stone floor and a rustic table for 6 people, the perfect place to start your day with a cuppa.
Cloakroom with WC and hand basin. The first floor is equally impressive, with a striking antler chandelier paying homage to Daweswood's Edwardian hunting lodge heritage.
Each of the five bedrooms has been individually designed around its own woodland-inspired theme, creating a unique and memorable experience for every guest. The Stag Room is the magnificent master suite, featuring a king-size bed elevated higher than a standard bed, creating a grand and luxurious feel. With beautiful views across the gardens and woodland, a decorative fireplace and a luxurious en-suite bathroom featuring a roll-top bath, separate shower, twin basins and WC, this room offers a truly indulgent retreat. The Fox Room features a king-size bed and enjoys views towards the property's iconic monkey puzzle tree.
Two steps lead down into a separate nursery area, complete with a cot and a soft faux fur rug, making it an ideal choice for families with young children. The Owl Room enjoys lovely views over the covered pergola and surrounding fells beyond.
This peaceful king-size bedroom embraces the tranquillity of Daweswood's woodland setting and is perfectly positioned for guests seeking a relaxing retreat. The Mouse Room is a charming double bedroom combining traditional Arts and Crafts styling with warm, welcoming décor. Overlooking the gardens, it provides a cosy retreat after a day exploring the fells and benefits from its own private en-suite shower room with basin and WC. The Bunny Room is a delightful twin bedroom tucked beneath a characterful sloping ceiling.

A spacious, comfortable and well-equipped Arts and Crafts house. A short walk to the amenities of the village, and direct access from the 3-acre woodland garden to the fell.

An absolutely fantastic week staying in a most amazing house. Everything we could have wanted was provided for us. The beds were very comfy, the kitchen cupboards contained plenty of space and crockery. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the front door. We have been holidaying in the Lake District for years and this is the best house we have ever stayed.
