The area has access too many outdoor pursuits to mention them all but some include the strenuous walk to “Munro Bag” Ben Lomond and enjoy the fabulous surrounding views from it’s summit; walking on the West Highland Way or Rob Roy Way; water sports of all sorts on Loch Lomond, be it wild swimming, sailing, kayaking, water skiing or more gentle boat tours to allow you to properly take in the stunning scenery that surrounds the loch, there are organised water sports centres at Rowardennan and Loch Lomond Shores. The list of other activities continues with mountain biking, horse riding and golf, of course with the beautiful Buchan Castle 18 hole parkland course and the 9 hole Strathendrick Golf Course which was created 1901 by Willie Fernie, both courses are at Drymen.
If you would rather bag a castle than a mountain then you are spoilt for choice with many within easy reach including Dumbarton Castle, Inerarry Castle, Stirling Castle and not to be missed a trip day trip to see the stunning Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace together with a tour of the Scottish Parliament or a scramble up Arthurs Seat to enjoy the views over the city to the Firth of Forth.
