Tucked away near the enchanting village of Berry Pomeroy, between historic Totnes and the dramatic landscapes of Dartmoor, The Old Coach House is an atmospheric and beautifully restored self-catering barn designed for peaceful escapes.
Set in a private garden and surrounded by rolling hills, this hideaway blends rustic charm with contemporary comforts for couples, families or friends looking to unwind in the heart of South Devon.
A Stylish Take on Country Living This lovingly converted barn is a sanctuary of low timber beams, exposed stonework, artisan furniture and warm, nature-inspired interiors.
Each space is crafted to soothe—think sheepskin rugs, curated earth-tone décor and soft lighting that invites slow mornings and cosy evenings.
In winter, curl up by the open fire with a glass of red as the Rayburn warms the heart of the home.
In summer, throw open the doors, wander through the private garden and gather seasonal fruit—apples, berries and gooseberries—straight from the trees and bushes.
A Kitchen for Slow Living & Good Food The classic Rayburn keeps the kitchen warm and welcoming through cooler months, while a separate hob and oven ensure a modern cooking experience.
With views of the garden and countryside beyond, it’s an idyllic place to prepare breakfast, cook long lunches or share relaxed family meals.
The barn also benefits from a reverse-osmosis water system, providing exceptionally pure drinking water throughout your stay.
Bedrooms Designed for Rest & Luxury Head upstairs to discover two beautifully styled bedrooms: - Master Bedroom A romantic retreat featuring a custom-made cast-iron king-size bed (with its own steps!), vaulted ceiling, original beams and peaceful countryside views.

This bedroom includes its own private en-suite shower room, ideal for families or friends travelling together. - The spa-style family bathroom, accessible from both the landing and master bedroom, features a luxurious bathtub and separate walk-in shower.
Private Garden Sanctuary Outside, the barn is embraced by a tranquil planted garden—perfect for alfresco dining, reading in the sunshine or wandering through fruit trees in late summer.

I found the cottage in poor state. All plants in pots were dead , very overgrown shrubs around the door entrance and garden furniture I had to clean off bird poop before we could use it. Generally felt very tired. Not enough toilet rolls, no dishwasher tabs, China was chipped. I feel it would be a good idea also to describe the location by the main road and the terrible congestion when trying to leave to go towards Totness. I realise this can’t be helped but would be good to let visitors know it can be very tricky early morning and evening.
