The Walua Trail is a welcoming, paved pathway perfect for walking, jogging, or biking.
Stretching about six miles round trip, it’s a favorite among both locals and visitors for its scenic views and relaxed atmosphere.
Offering a quieter, low-traffic alternative to busier routes, the trail is partly separated from the road, though some sections do run alongside residential areas. The first three miles include a steady uphill climb—especially after the 1.5-mile mark—rewarding you with a breezy, downhill return that makes the trip back especially enjoyable. Area Kona & Keauhou The sunny Kona Coast is famous for its crystal-clear waters, rich history, and endless activities.
Just eight miles south of Kona International Airport, you’ll find historic Hawaiian landmarks such as Huliheʻe Palace, Mokuʻaikaua Church, and Ahuʻena Heiau.
Kona is also world-renowned for its deep-sea fishing, hosting the annual International Billfish Tournament each August, as well as the legendary Ironman World Championship triathlon every October.
