The Boat House in Port Eynon delivers a one-of-a-kind coastal getaway, offering big groups and families the chance to stay right at the water’s edge with the sea stretching out before you. Once South Gower’s lifeboat station, the building has been thoughtfully transformed into a spacious seaside retreat where its maritime history is still very much felt.
Salt-tinged air, sweeping shoreline views, and the dramatic beauty of the Gower Peninsula all come together to create an unforgettable setting in Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A gentle wander through the side garden sets the tone for your stay.
Inside, a generous hallway gives everyone room to drop sandy shoes and hang coats, while the utility room takes care of the practical bits.
The main living space is the showstopper.
Vast, bright, and designed for groups to spend quality time together, it offers a huge sweep of seating gathered around a central woodburning stove, great for cooler evenings or lively post-beach storytelling.
Meals feel celebratory around the long dining table, and the separate commercial-style kitchen means cooking for a crowd is genuinely easy, with multiple ovens, ample hob space, and everything you need to feed sixteen hungry guests.
Downstairs showers and toilets add convenience for beach days.
Upstairs, the master bedroom commands jaw-dropping sea views with a double bed, those mornings when you draw the curtains feel like something from a postcard, and it enjoys its own en-suite.
Two bunk rooms make brilliant spaces for children or friends, with downstairs as well as a downstairs double as well, while the large family room and the flexible twin/zip-link room offer plenty of options for mixed parties.
The outdoors remains one of The Boat House’s greatest joys.
Benches on the old sea wall give you a front-row seat to the tide as it moves in and out, while the enclosed garden provides a safe place for children and dogs to explore.
With the beach literally on your doorstep, days naturally fall into an easy rhythm of paddling, exploring rock pools, and breathing in the fresh coastal air. Port Eynon brings a friendly, laid-back village atmosphere, complete with a welcoming pub, local shops, and that timeless seaside charm.
Beyond the village, the Gower Peninsula invites you to discover its wild headlands, dramatic cliffs, and over fifty unspoilt beaches, from the iconic Three Cliffs Bay and the sweeping sands of Rhossili to sheltered coves perfect for family picnics.
Nearby, Mumbles offers boutique shopping, Oystermouth Castle, and scenic walks along the promenade.
Swansea boasts the National Waterfront Museum, Plantasia Tropical Zoo, and a vibrant marina.
In Gorseinon, enjoy local parks, golf courses, and welcoming eateries.
The Boat House offers something truly special with some of the most captivating sea views you’ll ever wake up to for an immense holiday feeling.
