This is Lake Bleed, a cold lake in the foothills of the Julian Alps from where you can see the castle and the small island where the most famous church of the area is located. Enjoy the outdoors and walk along the shore of the lake. Take your camera and do not miss the beautiful details of a magical place. It is common to watch youngsters having fun swimming in the calm and safe lake. Or take a long bike ride through the woods. Not to mention that you can also experience the experience of sailing across the lake in a rowing boat to the central island.

When you reach the island in the centre of the lake you will find the Church of the Assumption, with its ninety steps at the entrance, inviting you to enter a world full of religiosity that touches the heart of even the most bewildered visitor. You can also visit the Bled Castle where you will find a centuries-old gothic chapel, a museum with 16th century weapons and armour that belonged to the Slavs of the time. You should not miss a visit to the two most famous viewpoints: Mala Osojnica and Ojstrica.

Watching the sunrise or the sunset is one of the must-do things to do here. The colours are drawn in the sky and reflected in the lake. From the camping area, you can enjoy views that don't seem real, waiting for the sun to rise or set is a privilege everybody can enjoy.

The Vintgar Gorge is a spectacular corner that is home to the Radovna River, one of the most impressive rivers with beautiful emerald waters that catch everybody’s eye and lens. The gorge and its stunning colour is an Instagrammable spot for those social media lovers or the perfect place for photography lovers. The and the crystal clear waters will mesmerise you. This area separates the Borst and Hom mountains. Take pleasant strolls and admire the beauty that nature offers you.

The walk to the viewpoints is really worth it. Lake Bleed's cuisine is distinctive and succulent. One of the most renowned restaurants is Gostilna Murka, a place that has been serving up flavoursome food for over 100 years. You will be received by your host with a starter and an explanation of the schnapps they keep in the cellar and they will treat you with bread, cold meats and cheese. If you choose a medieval meal, you will be greeted by the actors on the terrace and will be served a medieval feast with music included! Don't miss the ricet or golaz or enjoy a wine tasting, indulge in a Duke’s Plate, a Farmer’s Plate or in the delicious seasonal daily offer, with local and fresh ingredients.

At the campsite there is an artificial beach for the delight of visitors. It has to be said that there are areas within the lake where bathing is not allowed for visitors, but there are also places where a dip in the lake is almost an obligatory activity to do.

At a height of 130 metres, this sculptural construction from 1011 welcomes visitors with the splendour that only this castle exudes. Inside you can walk around and visit the chapel or the weapons museum. Take a step back in time!

To get to the castle where you will find the museum of the first Slavs of the city you can either walk or take a car. And then you can take a tour to admire the weapons, antique furniture, jewellery and original items. Let history be part of your day in the castle.
