A short walk from Chinatown is one of the most unusual, yet strangely attractive, attractions in the city: the Victoria Bug Zoo. In its two rooms there are some fifty fascinating species, with exhibits and expert guides who will teach you all about their insects. Since it opened in 1997, the mini zoo has educated and amazed people alike with its wonderful world of insects

The oldest Chinatown in Canada, a vibrant part of Victoria, with its bustling businesses and busy restaurants, is located in the heart of the city. In addition to having countless shops to browse and dozens of delicious dishes to try, the area also boasts attractive architecture and was designated a National Historic Site in 1995

A top a hill overlooking the city centre is the massive Victorian-era mansion of Craigdarroch Castle, displaying some of the most attractive architecture in the area. Built in 1890 for a wealthy coal baron, it is now protected as part of a museum with guided tours of the National Historic Site. With the look of a fairytale castle, this well-preserved property features turrets and stained-glass windows, as well as wraparound porches and balconies. Inside, the elegant salons and suites are decorated with luxurious furniture and period pieces.

Whales live and feed in the straits and seas that surround Victoria, so no trip to the city will be complete if you don't make one whale watching excursion. Many companies organize excursions from the inner harbour, and between April and October is considered the best time of year to see them up close

Just south of the city centre, Beacon Hill Park spans a vast area and boasts countless landscapes, views and activities to the outdoors to enjoy. Although you can find areas of forest here and there, most of the park consists of gardens with wonderful coastal landscapes and the coastline

Located around the corner from the inner port of the city is the Colourful Fisherman's Wharf, which is the perfect place to eat seafood or shop for souvenirs. Food kiosks and one-of-a-kind boutiques line the dock, while houseboats and fishing boats move on shore. Ferries and tourist visits also depart from its docks. Built in 1948 to house commercial fishing boats, the pier has a very lively atmosphere, with something happening all the time.
