Payment issues can occur on any booking platform. The solution depends on which platform you're using and the specific reason your payment was declined. Below, we've outlined the most common payment failure reasons for Holidu, Booking.com, and Airbnb, along with steps to resolve them.
Common reasons for payment failure
Most payment failures fall into one of these categories:
- Payment authentication issues
- Insufficient funds
- Withdrawal amount exceeded
- Payment method supported issues
- Invalid or declined card details
- Too many failed attempts
Payment failing on Holidu
If your payment is failing on Holidu, check the following:
Payment authentication issue
You must authorize the payment in your banking app or enter a code, TAN, or PIN sent by your bank via text message or phone call. Complete this step to process your payment successfully.
Insufficient funds
Ensure that your account has enough balance to cover the full booking amount, including any fees.
Withdrawal amount exceeded
Your bank may have set daily, weekly, or monthly spending limits. Check your banking app or contact your bank to confirm your transaction limits.
Payment method supported
We currently accept the following payment methods:
- Credit Card
- PayPal
- iDeal (The Netherlands)
- Klarna (Austria, Germany, and The Netherlands)
- Sofort
Ensure you're using one of these methods. If you're trying to use a different payment method, please select one from the list above.
Invalid or declined card details
Common issues include:
- Incorrect or invalid CVC number
- Invalid or expired card number
- Card blocked or restricted by your bank for security reasons
- Cancelled card
Double-check your card information. If the problem persists, contact your bank to confirm your card status.
Too many failed attempts
If you've made 5 or more unsuccessful payment attempts, further transactions may be temporarily blocked. Wait 1-2 hours before trying again. If the issue continues, contact your bank or try a different payment method.
Payment failing on Booking.com
Payment handling on Booking.com depends on your selected payment option at checkout.
If you chose "Pay Now"
Your payment is fully managed by Booking.com, and we do not have access to your payment details. To understand why your payment is failing, contact Booking.com's customer service via chat or phone call.
If you selected "Pay On"
Holidu is responsible for processing your payment. If your payment is failing, refer to the common reasons listed in the Holidu section above. The same payment issues and solutions apply.
Payment failing on Airbnb
