If you're looking to sync your calendars from another provider or channel with your Holidu listing, this guide will walk you through the process step by step. Calendar synchronization is a two-way connection, meaning you can import and export calendars. Once connected, it's a simple way to keep your availability up-to-date and avoid double bookings across multiple platforms.
Supported Channels for iCal Synchronization
You can synchronize your Holidu calendar with the following providers:
- Admin
- Abritel
- Airbnb
- Atraveo
- Avaibook
- Avantio
- Booking.com
- FeWo-direkt
- Feratel
- Fewomanager.de
- Icnea
- Iperbooking
- Menorca Vacations
- Mister B & B
- Octorate
- TouristManager - LTS
- VRBO
- Wimdu
If the calendar you wish to import is not listed, verify with your external provider whether they support two-way iCal synchronization. Always test the connection manually by creating a manual block on each calendar to check if it syncs properly.
Disclaimer: We do not guarantee the external calendar's compatibility with iCal. You should always verify that the sync works as expected before relying on it as your primary synchronization method.
How to Import and Export an iCal Calendar
The import and export process is the same whether you're setting up your first synchronization or adding additional ones. Follow these steps to connect your calendars:
First-Time Setup
- Log into your other platform and find the iCal sync options. Locate your iCal URL (export link).
- In another window, log into your Holidu account and select your property.
- On the left-hand side under Configuration, scroll down and click on iCal & Synchronization.
- Click on Configure to begin your first synchronization setup.
- Select the name of the channel you wish to synchronize from the list of available options.
- Follow the two steps on the setup screen:
- Step 1 – Import: Paste the iCal URL from the other provider into the "Address of iCal" field.
- Step 2 – Export: Copy Holidu's iCal URL and paste it into the iCal import section on the other provider's platform.
- Click Save to complete the synchronization setup.

If you already have one synchronization configured and wish to add another:
- Log into your Holidu account and select your property.
- On the left-hand side under Configuration, scroll down and click on iCal & Synchronization.
- Click on Add new synchronization.

- Click Save to complete the synchronization setup.
Important Notes for Major Booking Platforms
Booking.com
In the export settings on Booking.com, make sure to tick the box for Booked and Closed Dates. This ensures both confirmed bookings and manual blocks sync with Holidu. For detailed instructions, refer to the Booking.com iCal synchronization guide.
Airbnb
Airbnb iCal supports synchronization only from today until the next 364 days. Dates beyond this range will not be synchronized. This is an important limitation to keep in mind when managing your calendar across multiple platforms. For more information, visit the Airbnb iCal help page.
VRBO
For VRBO calendar synchronization instructions, please refer to their VRBO calendar sync guide.
Troubleshooting Tips
Check the iCal URL
Ensure the iCal URL is copied correctly from your external platform. Even small typos or missing characters may cause the sync to fail. Double-check the URL before saving your synchronization settings.
Refresh Your Calendar
If the calendar does not update immediately after setup, click the green Refresh button in your Holidu iCal settings. Calendar synchronization may take a few minutes to process, so patience is important when waiting for blocks to appear.
Manual Testing
Always test the connection by creating a test block in each calendar to confirm proper synchronization. Create a blocked date in one calendar and verify it appears in the other within a few minutes. This manual verification ensures your calendars are properly connected before you rely on the sync for managing your availability.
Common Issues
If your synchronization is not working as expected, verify the following:
- Both the import and export URLs are correctly entered in their respective systems
- The external platform supports two-way iCal synchronization
- Your Holidu account has the necessary permissions to configure synchronization
- There are no special characters or spaces in the iCal URLs
