Review Guidelines for Hosts

Guest reviews are essential to your success as a host on Holidu. They help future guests make informed decisions and build trust in your property. This guide explains how reviews work, what's allowed, and how to manage them effectively.

Understanding Reviews on Holidu

How the Rating System Works

Guests can rate their stay on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest). Your overall property rating is calculated as the average of all scores received. Guests may also leave subscores in specific categories such as location, cleanliness, description accuracy, and value for money.

Who Can Leave Reviews?

Reviews come from two main sources:

  • Guests who booked directly through Holidu
  • Guests who booked via connected platforms like Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com

Reviews must be submitted by actual guests who stayed at your property after their booking is complete.

Review Visibility and Display

Where to Find Your Reviews

All reviews are visible in your Holidu Host account. To access them:

  1. Log in to your Holidu Host account
  2. Navigate to Properties
  3. Select Configuration, then Reviews

Reviews may take up to 14 days to appear on your profile after a guest submits them.

How Reviews Are Displayed

Reviews shown on Holidu are sorted primarily by booking date, with written reviews prioritized. Note that negative reviews only appear if your property has at least two reviews total.

On connected platforms, only reviews from bookings made through that specific channel are displayed. The full review text is only visible if the booking was made directly on Holidu.

Review Compliance Standards

What's Not Allowed

Holidu removes reviews that contain:

  • References to illegal activities
  • Politically or religiously sensitive content
  • Promotional material or external links
  • Personal details such as names, contacts, or payment information
  • Profanity, hate speech, threats, or sexual content
  • Spam, fake reviews, or impersonation

What Reviews Must Be

All legitimate reviews displayed on Holidu must be truthful, travel-related, helpful to other guests, and written by the actual guest who stayed at your property.

Special Situations: Manual Bookings

Manual bookings are reservations entered directly by you or a property manager, rather than through Holidu or a connected platform.

Important: Reviews for manual bookings may not appear automatically because they bypass Holidu's automated workflows. Review requests may not be sent automatically.

What This Means for You

  • You may need to manually send review requests to guests for manual bookings
  • Reviews can still count toward your overall rating once submitted
  • Keep records of all manual bookings and remind guests to leave feedback

Managing Your Reviews

Responding to Reviews

Depending on the platform where your property is listed, you may have the option to respond to guest reviews. This is your opportunity to:

  • Provide context for future guests
  • Show appreciation for positive feedback
  • Address concerns professionally

Dealing With Negative Reviews

If a guest leaves a negative review, resist the urge to respond emotionally. Instead, address their concerns constructively and professionally. This shows future guests that you take feedback seriously and are committed to improvement.

If you believe a review violates Holidu's guidelines, contact our Customer Service Team.

Editing or Deleting Reviews

The ability to edit or delete reviews depends on the booking platform:

  • Holidu: Reviews cannot be modified by guests. Contact our team if a guest wants to change their review.
  • Booking.com: Guests can edit their review anytime. Guest must contact Booking.com directly.
  • Airbnb: Guests can edit reviews only before publication. Guest must contact Airbnb.
  • Vrbo: Guests must contact Vrbo directly to edit or delete.
