CIN - National Identification Code for Italian Properties

Italy's Ministry of Tourism has introduced a mandatory registration system for all short-term rental properties. The National Identification Code (CIN) is a unique identifier required under Decreto Anticipi No. 145/2023 to ensure transparency and fair competition in the holiday rental market.

What is the CIN?

The CIN (Codice Identificativo Nazionale) is a national registration number assigned to each non-hotel accommodation property available for short-term rental in Italy. This code identifies your property in the official Ministry of Tourism database and demonstrates compliance with Italian rental regulations.

Key Deadlines and Requirements

The CIN requirement became effective on November 2, 2024. All rental properties were required to obtain their CIN by January 1, 2025. If your property does not yet have a CIN, you should apply immediately to remain compliant with current regulations.

How to Obtain Your CIN

To request your CIN, you must apply through the Ministry of Tourism's official online platform, Banca Dati Strutture Ricettive (BDSR). During the application process, you will need to provide property details and confirm compliance with safety requirements. Once approved, you will receive your unique CIN code.

Where to Display Your CIN

Once you receive your CIN, you must display it in the following locations:

  • Outside your property (visible to guests)
  • On all rental listings across all booking platforms
  • In any offline promotional materials

Safety Requirements

CIN compliance includes mandatory safety installations at your property:

  • Combustible gas detectors
  • Carbon monoxide detectors
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Additional safety measures for professionally managed rentals

These safety features protect your guests and ensure your property meets Italian tourism standards.

Display Your CIN on Holidu

To showcase your compliance and build guest confidence, you can display an official CIN premium badge on your Holidu listing. Order your CIN badge through this link to highlight your registration status prominently.

Obtaining and displaying your CIN demonstrates your commitment to transparency and guest safety, helping your property stand out in Italy's competitive rental market.
