Walk down Mombasa's Moi Avenue and don't miss taking a selfie with the giant elephant tusks that arch over the avenue, marking the entrance to the heart of the city. This is a famous Mombasa landmark and was built to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's visit to the city in 1952. The tusks were made of canvas stretched over a wooden frame but are now made of aluminium and form the letter “M” for Mombasa.
