Want to have an afternoon of family fun and excitement? Blackpool beach is for you. Once not very clean, but now enjoying one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the UK, this beach contains all the characteristic features of the English coastline. The little ones at home can play peacefully in the shallow sea and build sandcastles, you can buy ice creams nearby to beat the heat and have a nice sweet treat. The beach is very gently sloping, perfect for making the most of it before the tide comes in or even if it does! At Blackpool's three piers there are attractions, shows, rides and much more!

For the die-hard romantics, we recommend a visit to one of the 20 most popular theme parks in the world, Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The park has broken all sorts of records in the UK and beyond. They have around 10 rollercoasters available for your romantic enjoyment, more than any other theme park in the country. Among these are the famous Big One, the UK's only roller coaster completely suspended over water, while Revolution was Europe's first inverted roller coaster made of steel. For those who prefer their rides a little more traditional, four of the roller coasters are made of sturdy wood. Would you like to spend a night at the Grand Theatre? The auditorium has a very neo-baroque style and has four levels, abounding in lush gilded stucco work on the ceiling and cantilevered balconies. It's such a famous and magnificent place to see a show that you don't have to be too fussy about what you see. It is very varied, you can see classical music ensembles, musicals, ballets, operas and even comedy acts.

Visit Blackpool's largest and most beautiful park, a small respite from the lavish entertainment and amusement arcades this place will have for you, located a mile east of the grand promenade. The park is home to the most striking Art Deco-style restaurant overlooking the statue-adorned Italian Garden. There is a very large and beautiful lake perfect for boating entertainment and boats can be hired on site.

You can't miss the opportunity to go to the station zoo, which is relatively close to the English Park. This Blackpool zoo contains the famous Project Elephant, which is the biggest attraction here, as it has the largest indoor elephant room in the UK. Also, special is the Orangutan Outlook, which houses five different types of Bornean orangutans and has safe and secure viewing areas.

For an afternoon of total fun, visit Sandcastle Waterpark! Find the UK's largest indoor waterpark. This great place has a tropical climate with a temperature that's just right for getting wet and not coming away with a cold. There are 18 slides for the kids to try out and have the time of their lives! The little ones can enjoy themselves and play safely at the Shimmerin Shallows, and parents can escape the chaos at the Sea Breeze Spa, which has everything you need for a great holiday!

Have a day full of new things to experience at Madame Tussauds, which has a wide variety of mostly British art pieces turned into amazingly lifelike waxworks. You can have a great encounter with wax figures such as Queen Elizabeth II, meet Olympic star Mo Farah and famous talent show judge Simon Cowell! There are stars from music, British TV, international film and sport, all in immersive displays that allow you to pose with the figures to take your own photos for your social media and fun memories!

You can't miss the festival of lights, which runs for at least 66 days each year - check out the dates not to be missed. The tradition dates back to 1879 as a way of extending the town's tourist season into autumn, and almost everything on the promenade is decked out with a million light bulbs. There are animated tableaux on many sides, the promenade's shops and restaurants are lit up in sequential colours and, in recent years, 3D light shows have been projected onto the side of the Tower!

If there is one sight inextricably linked to this beautiful place it is this 158 metre iron tower, Blackpool's most famous and beautiful tower, which was opened in 1894 and remains the tallest man-made observation point in the UK. This giant was inspired by the Eiffel Tower! Take the insured lift to the top to look out over the promenade and the Irish Sea. Approach when the skies are clear for a guaranteed view of the beautiful sky and surrounding area, you can see Wales in the south and the Lake District in Cumbria.
