Crantock for history buffsPacked with history through the ages, visitors to Crantock who love history will adore the old, thatched buildings in the village, some of which are thought to have wooden beams which came from the ships of Henry VIII of England! Take a trip to the churchyard where you’ll find the original village stocks. Dating back to the 1700s, these were last used in the early 19th century to entrap one William Tinney, who had attacked a widow in the village. Tinney escaped and headed to sea and was never seen again but his story is immortalised in the stone inscription displayed next to the stocks themselves.
