It is believed that it was here that the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette in 1858, who also discovered a mysterious fountain inside thanks to the Virgin Mary's supposed indications. Here you will find a fascinating grotto to explore, with large boulders, natural pools, and a sculpture of the Virgin Mary perched on a high spot at the beginning of the cave.

This Romanesque basilica is a must when coming to Lourdes because it not only has an impressive appearance but also a significant cultural and historical background. Known as the "Basilica Superiore", it was built in an ogival style between 1862 and 1871 and is approximately 62 feet high. Its interior is just as amazing as its exterior, with large, colourful stained-glass windows that tell the story of the Virgin Mary. Definitely a place you won't find anywhere else.

This fantastic wax museum is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Lourdes. Like most of the cultural centres in this town, its theme is religious figures with different scenes of sacred moments of Catholicism. For example, here you can see an impressive replica of the Last Supper of Christ, as well as the life of the iconic shepherdess Bernadette.

This place is quite interesting, although it does not have a happy history behind it. It is a dungeon where the family of Saint Bernadette Soubirous had to live because of the great poverty in which they lived during 1857. Accompanied by a guide who will be happy to tell you about the conditions in which the Soubirous family lived, you will learn a little about the daily life of the less fortunate in 19th century France.
