The city of Gérardmer alone brings together the entire ecosystem of the Vosges: a ski resort, a chairlift, a lake with a beach and many hiking trails. For an overview, go to the Merelle Observatory, a tower entirely made of concrete and wood that offers a breathtaking view of the lake and its surroundings. Be careful with the vertigo all the same: 90 steps separate you from the summit, which culminates at 15 metres high. It is impossible to ignore culinary specialities during a visit to the Vosges. Cheese lovers, this department is made for vous ! The most famous is obviously Munster, and its derivative product: Maître Courroy's Munster cream. It is cooked in a thousand and one ways in the city of Gérardmer, but also throughout the department. Thus, you can find it in an alternative recipe of the tartiflette, the Munstiflette. Candies are also a great reference in the Vosges. Cooked in copper cauldrons and flavoured with fir bud, violet or poppy, the flavours of these strong candies are almost infinite. Note that a visit to both factories is possible: a great idea for a gourmet outing!
