In the hinterland, you will find many villas and cottages in a sumptuous natural environment, as well as comfortable houses with gardens and sometimes with swimming pools. Location and orientation

The island of beautiful waters

It is from the poetic name of "the island of beautiful waters" that the Caribbean Indians called Guadeloupe. Located between the Tropic of Cancer and Ecuador, at 16° north latitude, Guadeloupe is a small archipelago in the West Indies made up of six inhabited islands. The main island is served by air from Paris.

A tropical paradise

The island of beautiful waters has many springs that feed its lush vegetation. We come here for its superb tropical forest, but also for its golden sandy beaches, coconut palms, turquoise sea and rich seabed. Not to mention, of course, the famous Soufrière volcano. There are many charming places waiting for you, whether you choose {{Basse-Terre}{31965}, {{Port-Louis}{35970}, {{Anse Bertrand}{43251} or Sainte-Rose. Unless you prefer {{Lower-Earth}{71990}, {{Upper-Earth}{37438}, Grand Bourg, Marie-Galante Island, the {{Holy}{184214}, {{La Désirade}{95828} or Petite-Terre

A dream destination for nature lovers

Hiking in the rainforest

Guadeloupe seduces with its spectacular landscapes of great variety. The tropical forest is a hiking paradise. Basse-Terre} is characterised by its dense vegetation, waterfalls, the volcanic beach of Grande Anse and the Soufrière volcano. The archaeological park of Les Roches Gravées is a unique place, ideal for walking: it invites you to discover the mysterious culture of the island's inhabitants before the arrival of the Europeans, in the form of rocks decorated with stylized drawings of animals and men. You can also hike to Vieux-Habitants, one of the first towns inhabited during the colonial era. The village surrounded by a splendid forest preserves many old houses

Explore exceptional coastal landscapes

Guadeloupe offers you a wide variety of splendid beaches, which invite you to enjoy a seaside holiday. In Grande-Terre, Le Moule is one of the most prestigious surf spots in the archipelago. Saint Felix beach, at Le Gosier, invites you to enjoy the pleasures of family swimming. At Mahaut} a black sandy beach awaits you, which is the starting point for many excursions in the Cousteau Reserve. You can also swim in the Saintes archipelago, for example on the superb beach of Le Pain de Sucre. The two islands of Petite-Terre are nature reserves for many iguanas and marine animals.

Who is behind the name of the "Fierce of Guadeloupe"? A wild animal? A bandit? None of this, but one of the culinary specialities of the island, based on avocado, manioc, cod and chilli.

Top 5 things to do

The ascent of the Soufrière

The ascent of the Soufrière is the essential nature excursion in Guadeloupe, there are several itineraries, but the Chemin des Dames is the best signposted. It allows you to do the hike in less than 3 hours round trip. Don't rush and take the time to admire the breathtaking view from the summit. On the way, you will observe the Faujas landslide and the Great Rift.

Explore the seabed of the Pigeon Islets

These small islands are located in the heart of the Guadeloupe National Park and have superb seabeds, nicknamed "the Cousteau reserve". The area is closed to fishing and boats cannot drop anchor. You will therefore be able to dive in peace, especially as the seabed is accessible with minimal equipment: fins, mask and snorkel are enough to admire corals and tropical fish.

Nature experience at Parc des Mamelles

An excursion for the whole family: Parc des Mamelles will introduce you to the history of the tropical forest, the different animal and plant species. The didactic route is particularly pleasing, with its bridges suspended 20m above the void!

Beach delights on Grande-Anse beach

Grande-Anse beach is simply one of the most beautiful on the island: a dream setting for an idyllic day! Golden sand, turquoise blue waters, the inevitable coconut trees, here are all the ingredients to make this place a real tropical paradise.

Dive into history at Pointe à Pitre

Would you like to immerse yourself in the island's past? It is in Pointe-à-Pitre that you will find the atmosphere of Guadeloupe of yesteryear best, walking through the old quarter and admiring the old colonial residences. The lively and colourful St-Antoine Market is the ideal place to shop.
