From this area, you have easy access both to the Antalya highway and the fabulous city beach!

Antalya’s is Turkey’s fourth biggest city, thriving and modern but with a historic heart. It boasts Turkey’s second largest airport, with direct flights from all around the world. The city is set high on cliffs with dramatic views over the dazzling backdrop of mountains to the north and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea to the south.

The ancient heart of the city is called Kaleiçi. Perched atop a hill and a steep cliff, visitors are drawn to this district en masse. Walk down from Kaleiçi to the sea and you arrive at the Old Harbour, a major tourist hub full of energy and enthusiasm, a place to eat, drink and shop to your heart’s content! As you walk westwards from the Old Harbour along the palm tree lined boulevard, you arrive at the sweeping expanse of konyaalti, the city beach and one of the most stunning urban beaches in the world.

Antalya is not only about its beaches, but if its beaches you are coming for, you are going to be just thrilled. Oodles of sandy stretches are within easy reach of the city, ranging from umbrella-peppered strands to quieter spots beloved by locals. To the west of the town centre, Konyaalti Beach has a fantastic buzz. It is a gorgeous sweeping sandy beach framed by mountains and served by myriad cafes, restaurants, and rental companies, boasting all the amenities for a comfortable day out, such as showers, restrooms, and other services. If you prefer a quieter beach away from the other sunseekers, head a little further out to Cirali Beach – no bars, no music, just the gentle ripple of waves on the beach, and the occasional plump orange falling from a tree.

If you can peel away from the fabulous beaches, the area surrounding Antalya is bursting with the ruins of ancient civilisations. The most memorable of all the sites is Perge, an ancient Greek city subsequently ruled by the Romans. The majesty of Perge lies in its well-preserved necropolis, city walls, gymnasium, Roman baths, and Greek and Roman gates. But the highlight is the huge chariot racing stadium, one of the largest and best-preserved in the world!

Turkish breakfasts are belly-busting platters complete with Turkish cheeses, fresh bread, olives and dried fruits. There are a few Big Man Bistro’s in town, and they are your best bet for starting your day the authentic Turkish way.

Take a short boat trip to one of the region’s most talked about natural attractions – the Duden Waterfalls, two mighty cascades carved into a deep gorge of rock, clad in greenery, and plunging directly into the Mediterranean Sea.

On a hot summer’s day, few things beat picnicking under a tree in a beautiful park with sweeping sea and mountain views! This green oasis offers a respite from the thrumming city, and is a great place to take your family, with picnic tables and a large playground.

Antalya’s Old Harbour is surrounded by limestone cliffs that create a beautiful natural backdrop, and is home to numerous bazaars, boutiques, and cafes. Shack up at one of the harbourside bars, order a cocktail and enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Mediterranean Sea.

The Lycian Way begins just outside of Antalya. Over 500 kilometres long, it is professed as one of the world’s greatest hikes. The Lycian Way is a blend of natural and manmade heritage, ravishing views of rugged mountains above and beauteous coastline below, connecting villages to ancient Lycian cities past traces of Lycian, Greek and Roman civilisations.
