Less than half an hour drive away from Benllech is the historical city of Bangor, which is best known for local attractions such as the Menai Suspension Bridge linking the city to the Isle of Anglesey, Bangor Cathedral, Bangor University and Garth Pier. The village of Red Wharf Bay is also 15 minutes drive from Benllech where you can enjoy your meal or relax with a beer in one of the three local restaurants. The view from there is breathtaking!

Benllech has fine golden sand and clear blue waters making it a great place for families to swim and paddle. At low tide, the sand extends for miles, so there is plenty of space for activities such as windsurfing, sailing, sea fishing and long coastal walkings. You can also explore many rock pools that offer opportunities to see crabs, small fishes and starfishes up close.

There are so many beautiful gardens to explore near Benllech! Take a walk in the garden of Plas Newydd and discover a whole world of trees and plants with private spots to enjoy the view. There are some hides along the paths beside Menai Strait, from which you can observe the diverse birdlife both in the forest and along the coastline. You could also visit Happy Valley Gardens, the oldest of Conwy's parks. It was created in the late 19th Century and was listed as a historic garden of excellence during the 1930s due to its rare Alpine plant collection.

Wales is often called 'the land of castles' and not without reason. In total there are 427 castles in Wales! Therefore, they could not be missing from the area of Benllech. One of them, about 7 miles away, is Beaumaris Castle, which is the great unfinished masterpiece built as one of the castles of the "iron ring" of North Wales by the English monarch Edward I. It is charmingly atmospheric and well worth a visit for all ages.

The Anglesey Agricultural Show is an annual two-day event held in August at the Mona Showground. Visitors can see fantastic displays of livestock, markets and exhibition pavilions, competitions, craft exhibitors, food halls, machinery and vehicle stands and much more. The 160-acre showground features 350 trade booths, 1.000 show horses and show jumps and attracts around 50.000 visitors each year. Why not be one of them?

You can choose one of ten circular walks from each corner of the island. There are circular walks of all types, hilly, short, coastal, walks beside Roman ruins, heritage walks, wildlife and bird watching walks. If that's not enough, try the entire 125-mile coastal route, which includes climbing 13.695 feet up an island that is claimed to be flat. There is something common to all these walks. You'll find some of Britain's most magnificent coastal scenery. Benllech, like other spots on the island, attracts painters and photographers from all over the place, and now you'll understand why.
