The Town Hall was designed by Edward Rundle, architect to the 7th Duke of Bedford, and was built in the grounds of Mathew Street, Lower Brook Street and Lower Market Street. Made of local stone in the late Perpendicular Gothic style, it has an impressive main hall with panelled walls and a magnificent maple floor, as well as other historic and interesting rooms, such as the Mayor's Parlour
