Llangollen is undoubtedly best known for the colourful International Musical Eisteddfod event held during the first week of July. The Horseshoe Waterfall, is one of the most emblematic places in the city, and currently draws 12 million gallons of water from the River Dee to supply canals and drinking water to south Cheshire.

Built in the 1260s and crowning the hill above Llangollen, the Dinas Brân castle is well worth the climb to enjoy the enchanting views of Llangollen. Although little remains of this magnificent fortress, the steep climb up to it is rewarded with an excellent 360-degree view.
