Fantastic villas in Rhodes

The white town of Lindos, in Rhodes, has two beautiful parts where you can rent a villa. Krana is home to modern properties, 10 minutes from the village and 5 more minutes to the beaches. In town you also find villas that have been renovated, so they are more traditional. Lindos is a hilly area, so having your car or getting a taxi are good options to move in and around if you don’t fancy walking up on the way back.

Traditional white villas

Waking up to the sound of waves and the azure waters is a privilege you can enjoy in Lindos. Find a whitewashed villa overlooking the sea. Patios, terraces, shades for a quick nap and plenty of comfort to enjoy during the holidays. With room for up to 7 people, in Lindos, you can have a villa for long and short periods of time. Whether you come for a weekend , a week or a month, fabulous villas are waiting for you to rent them!

Travellers and activities

Lindos for beach lovers

Going to the beach is one of the main activities in Lindos. You have two different beaches sharing the same bay. The Main Beach, known as Lindos Beach, is on the east side of the Acropolis. Ideal for families and children where they can play in shallow waters. On the western tip end of the beach there is Pallas Beach, a smaller stretch of sand with traditional tavernas by the sea. A 10-minute walk from the Acropolis there is als St. Paul’s Bay, a beautiful sheltered bay of turquoise waters to spend a whole day basking in the sun or under the umbrellas.

Lindos for food lovers

Around the island you find fantastic and traditional family-run tavernas, with white walls and bougainvilleas snaking up where to sample delicious bites of traditional Greek recipes. Dine at the gorgeous terrace restaurant of Melenos or at the romantic roof terrace of Mythos. Ambrosia, Eklekton or Pallas Beach Taverna also offer fresh produce, exquisite menus and great views. Sample some prawns, fresh fish, gyros, salads and local vegetables.

The Acropolis of Lindos was designed to protect the village from attacks, and is within the confines of the Helenistic walls.

Top 7 travel tips in Lindos

1. Visit the old Acropolis

The Acropolis of Lindos is one of the main points of interest in the village. Walk up the stone path, soaking in the views as you do. Marvel at the Medieval walls, the 4th-century gates, the Temple of Athena Lindia, the Castle of the Knights of St.John. When you finish with the monuments, take a moment to admire the panoramic views of Lindos and the bay.

2. Try a donkey ride

As they did in the old days, donkeys still are used to bring people up to the Acropolis, now from a tourist point of view. You can rent them and make all the way up for 6 euros each way. Near the main square of Lindos you can find the donkey station. This is a good ride for kids rather than for adults.

3. Visit the whitewashed village

The charm of this little village will make you fall in love immediately. The white facades, the blue sea, the narrow streets lined with shops and the old mansions dating back to the 17th century. Wander the alleys and discover what’s around every corner.

4. Go shopping!

There are several shops with touristic items and souvenirs but you can also find some jewellery and handmade crafts. Find a little special present, an original souvenir or a unique piece to decorate your home.

5. Visit the Church of Panagia

Originally built in 1300, the Greek Othodox Church of Panagia is known for its high-rise and the stone campanile tower. If you take a look inside, you can see the wall frescoes depicting biblical scenes. The main building has a cross-shaped plan and over the doorway, there is a colourful fresco of the Last Judgement.

6. The Captain’s House

Anytime of the day is good to stop for a coffee or a nice cuppa. The Captain’s house is a nautical themed cafe where to relax and enjoy some time resting, enjoying a sip and get some energy to keep visiting the village.

7. Enjoy a cup of coffee

Close to the start of the donkey path going up to the Acropolis, there is a little and cute whitewashed bakery and cafe. The courtyard, covered in vines and mosaics is the perfect spot to get away from the sun for a bit and enjoy a coffee or a delicious ice cream. You can also enjoy some breakfast, different pies and cakes and varied sandwiches. Remember to have a bit of the superb bougatsa, a vanilla custard pie.
