Skopelos has 3 villages which are Chora, Glossa and Neo Klima. The village of Skopelos (Chora) located on the southern side of the island is the capital and the oldest settlement on the island. On the other hand, Glossa, located on the northwest side of Chora, is built along a mountainside, surrounded by pine, almond and plane tree forests, and is the second-largest settlement on the island. Neo Klima, located on the west side of Chora, is a fairly new settlement built in 1981.

Known for their sparkling crystal clear waters and richly vegetated landscape, the beaches of Skopelos are a natural treasure famous in Greece. Among the island's most popular are Stafylos beach, located on the southern side of Skopelos, near Chora, which is among the most incredible beaches in Greece and boasts fine sand and crystal clear waters; Panormos beach, on the northwest side of Skopelos town, consisting of two small islets; Elios beach, located west of Chora, with emerald waters and pebbles; and Hovolo beach, near Elios, one of the most secluded beaches on the island with no facilities but peace and quiet.

In addition to the chapel, Kastani beach was also the setting for several scenes in Mamma Mia! Kastani beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Skopelos and is located west of the village of Skopelos. Its starring role in the film has also made it one of the most visited beaches on the island.

The traditional dishes of Skopelos are a delight to try! Usually, the dishes prepared in the taverns are made from recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, so you can even try recipes that were known in ancient times. Try Astakos Giouvetsi (Baked lobster with orzo pasta), Kavouria me Manestra (Crab with orzo pasta casserole), Gemistoi Achinoi (Stuffed sea urchins) and the delicious traditional cheese pie. Located in Alonissos, near Skopelos, you will find the Alonissos National Marine Park where you will see a rich marine life with rare and endangered species such as the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus). The National Marine Park of Alonissos was the first marine park in Greece and is the largest marine protected area in Europe.

The Loizia Festival is one of the main festivals in Skopelos that you can't miss on your list. The event takes place in August at the end of July in the village of Glossa and is held in honour of Manos Loizos, one of Greece's most famous musical composers.
