The park is home to a vast area of stunning, unspoilt landscapes and a plethora of wildlife species. Go to the Manatee Observation Deck where you can spot the giant underwater mammals swimming around. Go for a walk down Scrub Ridge Trail to see a vast number of local bird species, and have a scenic drive down Black Point Wildlife Drive. The park is home to alligators, turtles, fish, hundreds of bird species and more! It’s a lovely place to spend the day outdoors with the whole family.

If you love sea turtles, head over to the Sea Turtle Preservation Society at Melbourne Beach. Here you can learn all about sea turtles and maybe even have a chance to see some nesting or hatching in a protected area on the beach! Turtle walks are routinely organized and must be booked in advance, so be sure to call ahead of time.

This breathtaking wildlife refuge boasts crystalline, spring-fed waters surrounded by trees and wooden walkways. You can do the 1.3-mile circular walk, which goes all the way around the water and takes around 30-40 minutes to complete. Hiring kayaks is also a popular option for exploring the area. Try to spot the manatees swimming around in the clear waters here– you’re even allowed to swim with them!

Hunter Springs Park is set on the banks of Crystal River and boasts a lovely sandy beach. You can hire kayaks or paddleboards here to explore the waters, or you can go for a refreshing swim. There’s a nice playground area and a boardwalk to enjoy here as well.
